As part of Epic’s plan to drive more players to its platform Epic gives away a game for free every week, occasionally Epic Games will give away multiple games but not every week. This weeks game being given away for free was last week kept a secret as a ‘Mystery Game’. Now Epic has revealed that this weeks game is none other than Grand Theft Auto V.

In revealing GTA V as this weeks game being given away for free, demand was so overwhelming that the Epic Games Store and Launcher actually broke for several hours. I personally amongst many others ran into ‘500 ERROR’ screens and had seen the language on those screens change from English to Spanish, French and I think also German. Epic claimed this morning in this tweet that they seemed to have regained control of the situation and will continue monitoring it, so you should be able to claim GTA V with no issues.

Grand Theft Auto V will be free to add to your library until the 21st of May so make sure to grab it while you can! Just like last week, Epic usually reveals the next game or games they will be giving away for free next week too, this week however is different. Epic has told us only that there is a Mystery Game coming next week and given us the same placeholder image that was used last week to hide GTA V’s identity. Presumably that means there will only be one game free next week again.

This time around however we have a little rumor that may or may not be fake. The twitter account Wario64 is quite a reputable source for proven leaks and claims that the next 3 ‘Mystery Games’ after GTA V are Civilization VI, Borderlands The Handsome Collection and finally Ark: Survival Evolved. Wario64 links his own source coming from this Reddit Post. As with all rumors, take it with a pinch of salt and be ready to accept that it is not real.

Since starting the free game giveaways in 2018 and throughout 2019 Epic gave away 73 games worth approximately $1450 that had been claimed over 200 million times.
