As many of the other reviews for this game state, if you have seen / are a fan of the films you should get this game.

Bad Points

Having played multiple other games developed by Telltale Games, I can say that the animations in this game follow the same pattern as those other games with the exception of Tales From the Borderlands and Minecraft Story Mode. The animations are janky, often delayed and are just simply not very smooth or natural. It is a very common problem in Telltale Games products but it doesn’t mean that it spoils the whole game and you shouldn’t put off any potential players. The game is good regardless of the terrible animations and the short playthrough time.

Also there were around 5 or 6 audio files that were completely missing from the game throughout all 5 parts of the game, such as a line of speech mostly from the AI characters side rather than Marty (You). In Part 3 i think it was, there was a scene in a bar where you can choose to play music and one of the selections was completely audio mute. Having said that again it didnt really affect the gameplay very much except as im sure if you had subtitles on you would still be able to read what it was that characters said. (Assuming the audio issues are not fixed since i have just finished playing the game first time Dec 2014 and the final part to the game was released in June 2011)

Good Points

I have only played through the game once at this point so i spent alot of time talking to every single person and looking / touching everything to get a tonne of information for the puzzles so it took around 2-3 hours per part of the game (5 parts to the game) but i had a huge amount of fun doing so and hearing the backstory and indications to the films too.

I did find some of the puzzles kind of hard to work out at first and needed to use some of the hints that you get which generally offered between 2 and 4 hints depending on the difficulty of the puzzle i assume. But once i realized that most of it was kind of obvious when you step back and think about it i didnt need the hints as much and it was really fun working out what to do.

The story was also really interesting, it didnt follow the films but seemed to suggest that the films had already happened according to some of the dialogue but it just added to the surprise and fun of the game which kept me interested in playing.

I will be playing through this game for at least a second time too so I definitely recommend it especially since it was super cheap during Steam Winter Sale 2014 – £4.74.

One last thing for those that are interested, the game has no achievements and has no steam trading cards / badges just so you know. Shouldn’t put you off buying it though it really is worth getting, not all games need these things to be enjoyed fully.
